The Horrors Of Burbank
This Thanksgiving I went to Burbank for a shoot, and found an unexpected enclave of all things horror.

Being a huge fan of the Disney Channel film series, I was immediately intrigued by the name. At first, I figured it was just some kind of year-round Halloween store (like Halloween 360 from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). But, as soon as I walked in I realized it was not your average Halloween shop. It’s really more of a museum to all things horror including themed rooms, retro collectibles, and crazy cool decorations. It’s a super fun shop, and they have tons of unique photo-ops and merch. In addition, they have a Costume and a Kids’ shop all within walking distance of each other. It’s like walking into a Fangoria magazine. I had a great time, definitely check it out if you’re ever in the area.

The Mystic Museum is an occult and witchcraft museum that has super cool horror exhibits and oddities. The gift shop is full of Satanic novelties and has awesome vintage trinkets. The museum has tons of little treasures and horror memorabilia. They also have great photo-ops!
Dapper Cadaver
7648 San Fernando Rd, Sun Valley, CA 91352
This won’t be super exciting for everyone, but I thought Dapper Cadaver was incredibly fun. It’s an LA prop house that has made props for tons of horror productions like American Horror Story and Universal Halloween Horror Nights. They have themed prop rooms featuring dinosaur skeletons, electric chairs, and dead bodies. They sell awesome props, fake blood, and you can even order custom pieces for your projects.
Blast From The Past

While not entirely horror, Blast From The Past still makes the list because it was so cool! This old school comic and collectible store really is like going back in time. You’ll totally geek out here, they have tons of retro memorabilia and classic horror merch. It’s super cute, and you can literally spend hours looking at everything. They’re also the location for the Dead Right Horror Trivia Nights.
